BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — According to a recent news release, the Boise State football team’s Summer Softball Classic is returning for the first time since 2019, with this year’s edition hosted by The Horseshoe Collective. The event will be held Wednesday, June 21, at Memorial Stadium.
Memorial Stadium gates will open at 5 p.m., with the home run derby scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the Summer Softball Classic slated for 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for the general admission event and are on sale HERE or at the Memorial Stadium Box Office.
The softball game will be six innings. After the game, players from the winning side will receive a chicken teriyaki plate from Happy Teriyaki. Players from the losing side will walk away with egg rolls for dinner, also from Happy Teriyaki.
If the teams are tied at the end, the game will be determined by a “swing off,” where the offense and defense will alternate in a home run derby-style competition.
Each side will send a member of its team to the plate for one swing. A home run from one team when the other does not produce one will determine the game’s winner. Should both players hit a home run, or neither, the following round will feature new batters from each side.
Concessions will be available, and an autograph session will be held with football student-athletes on the field following the game.
