After borrowing her mother’s car, she and her three friends went to a party on the ninth floor of the Crown Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois.
After reaching the hotel, the friend shared live videos on Snapchat and Facebook during the party, showing the girls were unhappy.

At 3 a.m., while leaving the party, Kenneka realized she had left her belongings, car keys, and the cellphone back in the room.

Following the death of Kenneka in 2018, her family filed a $50 million lawsuit against the Crown Plaza.
The suit claimed the hotel was negligent for not securing the renovated freezer area properly.
